Fact: staying cool starts with what you wear underneath. I know this to be true: my partner and I moved to Brooklyn in June - and we didn't have air conditioning until last week. (Thank goodness for window units that effectively cool a small bedroom.)
So, up until last week, we were dressing to survive a sweaty, hotboxed apartment. And underwear was important. Here's how we did it:
1. Underwear that doubles as pajama bottoms
Y'all know that my love for Foxers is real and deep, but y'all. Y'ALL. I would not have not been able to sleep without my Foxers Boxer Briefs. Underwear that doubles as pajama bottoms? Essential to life.
2. Underwear that doesn't give you swamp ass
Keeping it 100, y'all, keeping it 100.
The key to avoiding swamp ass (or general sweatiness) is in the fabric. Cotton, friends. Breathable cotton. Synthetic anything is gonna result in sweaty slippage. Cotton will keep you dry.
Cotton is your friend.
3. Underwear for when you need to exercise in the heat
Dear Kate undies wick moisture. THEY. WICK. MOISTURE. *angels sing*
If you must go with synthetic fabric for underwear, go with these. And, umm, wear them to the gym or to yoga class. Designed as underwear for people with periods, Dear Kate undies are a solid choice when the dog days of summer are upon us and the A/C is a struggle.
And there you have it! The three ways underwear has been keeping me cool this summer.
